D4vd faces wrongful death suit in Celeste Rivas murder case
The family of Celeste Rivas Hernandez has filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Los Angeles County Superior Court against singer David Anthony Burke, known professionally as D4vd, and several associates. The civil suit names Burke’s manager, his mother, a live-in security guard, and the management company Mogul Vision as defendants, alleging they were complicit in or failed to prevent Burke’s alleged sexual exploitation of the 14-year-old victim.
In a separate criminal case, Burke faces charges of capital murder, lying in wait, murder for financial gain, mutilation of human remains, and continuous sexual abuse of a child. Prosecutors allege that Burke killed Rivas in April 2025 after she threatened to expose their relationship, subsequently dismembering her body. Her remains were discovered in the trunk of Burke’s Tesla at a Hollywood tow yard in September 2025.
As the case progresses toward a trial, Rivas’s family has publicly called for prosecutors to seek the death penalty. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman has stated he has not yet decided whether to pursue that sentence. Burke has pleaded not guilty to all criminal charges and remains held without bail.
