David Azuara Zúñiga proposes police and housing reforms
Federal Deputy David Azuara Zúñiga has introduced two legislative initiatives in the Mexican Chamber of Deputies aimed at improving labor conditions for law enforcement and expanding housing access for young people.
The first proposal seeks to reform the General Law of the National Public Security System. This initiative aims to enhance training, professionalization, benefits, and social security for state and municipal police officers. It also proposes federal financing mechanisms tied to performance goals and mandates that at least 20 percent of certain municipal security funds be allocated to the development of police corporations.
The second initiative, titled ‘Tu Primera Casa’, proposes reforms to the INFONAVIT and ISSSTE laws. The goal is to expand mortgage financing options for young people by offering preferential conditions and joint credits that do not require marriage or kinship. The proposal also accounts for variable income, fees, and independent work, including protections against income loss to facilitate asset building.
