David Bailey leads Jets defense with three sacks against Browns

New York Jets rookie edge rusher David Bailey recorded three sacks against the Cleveland Browns during a 17-12 victory. Bailey, the second overall pick in the 2026 draft, became the first rookie this season to achieve a multi-sack game and is one of only five players in NFL history to record five sacks within their first five professional games.

The Jets' defense recorded a season-high eight total sacks during the contest, tying the franchise record for a single game in the 21st century. Other players contributing to the sack total included Will McDonald IV, Jowon Briggs, Darrell Jackson Jr., Dane Belton, and Jarvis Brownlee Jr.

Under head coach Aaron Glenn, the Jets' defense has emerged as a significant unit, currently ranking fourth in the NFL in yards allowed per game and tied for fourth in total sacks. The team's defensive strategy relies heavily on blitzing, executing it at a 47% rate, which is the third-highest in the league.
