David Bowie unreleased 1965 demo ‘Today’ announced

A previously unreleased 1965 demo titled ‘Today’ has been revealed as a preview for ‘The Shel Talmy Recordings’. This 22-track collection documents David Bowie’s formative years in London’s R&B and Mod scene, during a period when he was still performing under the name Davie Jones.

The collection, produced by Shel Talmy, is scheduled for global release on September 18, 2026, via Parlophone Records. It includes ten previously unheard tracks, such as ‘I Live In Dreams’, ‘Bars Of The County Jail’, ‘I Do Believe I Love You’, and ‘I Want My Baby Back’, alongside alternative vocal and overdub versions of known recordings.

The sessions, primarily recorded at IBC Studios, featured notable musicians including guitarist Jimmy Page and pianist Nicky Hopkins. The release serves as an archival examination of Bowie’s musical development prior to his first studio album in 1967.
