Paramount Pictures develops Smile 3 with new director David Bruckner

Paramount Pictures has officially put Smile 3 into development, marking a creative shift for the horror franchise. David Bruckner, known for directing the 2022 Hellraiser reboot and The Night House, has been tapped to direct the third installment.

Nick Antosca will write the screenplay, replacing franchise creator Parker Finn in the director's chair. Finn, who wrote and directed the first two films, will remain involved as a producer alongside Temple Hill, having reportedly pitched the story framework for this third chapter. Jonathan Fass will serve as executive producer.

While plot details and casting remain unknown, the franchise has been a significant commercial success, earning over $350 million worldwide across its first two films. Finn is currently focused on directing a remake of the 1981 film Possession, starring Callum Turner and Margaret Qualley, which is scheduled for release in 2027.
