David Capra to debut Memphis-inspired exhibition in Fairfield
Artist David Capra is set to present a new exhibition titled ‘Memphis Fairfield’ at the Fairfield City Museum & Gallery this November. The exhibition will recreate elements of Capra’s western Sydney home, which he transformed during the COVID-19 pandemic into a vibrant space inspired by the 1980s Italian Memphis design movement founded by Ettore Sottsass.
Capra’s home serves as a colorful alternative to minimalist design trends, incorporating personal history, family-built furniture, and custom rugs. The collection also honors his late dog and muse, Teena, who was a central figure in his public life and art. Capra has also served as the coordinator for the Campbelltown Art Centre’s Little Orange Studio for ten years.
