David Collado vows to focus on tourism management amid political criticism

Dominican Republic Tourism Minister David Collado stated on October 22 that he will not allow recent political criticisms to distract him from his public duties. Speaking during an official event in Higüey, Collado emphasized his commitment to the country's economic development and sector projects.

The remarks follow questioning regarding his standing within the ruling party after Jesús Vásquez Martínez (known as Chú) challenged his roots within the officialist organization. Collado declined to engage in direct controversy, stating that ‘each thing will have its moment.’

Local analysts suggest these internal frictions reflect positioning within the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) ahead of future elections. While opinion polls show high favorability for the minister, political experts note that his strategy of avoiding direct confrontation aims to protect his government image and prevent premature political exhaustion.
