David Corenswet to star in NFL drama ‘Mr. Irrelevant’

Paramount Pictures has released the trailer for ‘Mr. Irrelevant: The John Tuggle Story’, a sports drama directed by Jonathan Levine. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on December 25, 2026.

The movie depicts the life of John Tuggle, the 1983 NFL Draft’s final selection, who played for the New York Giants. It follows his journey from a college athlete at Cal to earning a spot on the Giants' roster through work ethic and charm, and his subsequent battle with cancer. The story highlights his impact on his teammates, who honored him by wearing his jersey number, 38, as stickers on their helmets during Super Bowl XXI.

David Corenswet stars as John Tuggle, alongside Michael Shannon as coach Bill Parcells, Isabel May, and David Krumholtz. The screenplay was written by Nick Santora.
