David Crowley receives Barack Obama endorsement in Wisconsin governor race

Former President Barack Obama has endorsed Democratic candidate David Crowley in the Wisconsin governor race. Crowley, the current Milwaukee County Executive, is running against Republican U.S. Representative Tom Tiffany in a highly competitive election.

Recent polling from Marquette University Law School shows Crowley with a narrow 49% lead over Tiffany’s 46%. While Tiffany has received an endorsement from former President Trump, Obama’s support is expected to bolster Democratic enthusiasm.

Crowley’s campaign highlights his record of bipartisan negotiation, specifically citing Wisconsin Act 12. This legislation, which he helped secure through negotiations with state Republican leaders, allowed for sales tax increases in Milwaukee and boosted state funding for local governments to prevent fiscal crises.
