Democratic gubernatorial candidate David Crowley is traveling to California for a high-dollar fundraising event featuring former Vice President Kamala Harris and actor Sean Penn. The fundraiser includes various ticket tiers, with VIP seats priced at $20,000 and other levels starting at $500.

Republican candidate Tom Tiffany has criticized the move, accusing Crowley of outsourcing his campaign to wealthy out-of-state donors rather than engaging directly with Wisconsin voters. Tiffany stated that Crowley is “chasing checks in Washington and California” while Tiffany focuses on traveling the state to discuss tax cuts and the state surplus.

Political science professor emeritus Mordecai Lee noted that seeking out-of-state donations is a common practice in highly competitive races, as candidates often require significant funds for television advertising and to remain major players in the election.
