David de Koninck painting restored in Sorrento

The restoration of the Flemish painting ‘Scena di caccia’ by David de Koninck has been completed in Sorrento. The project was a collaboration between the Museo Correale and the Bellevue Syrene hotel under the ‘Adotta un’opera’ (Adopt a Work) initiative.

Following an eight-month conservation process, the painting was presented at the Bellevue Syrene. Art historical analysis conducted during the project suggests the work may have been painted by two artists, with the human figures potentially bearing the unmistakable imprint of the master Luca Giordano alongside de Koninck’s Rubens-style Flemish technique.

Due to the success of this partnership, the Bellevue Syrene has announced it will double its support by funding the restoration of a second de Koninck work from the Museo Correale collections, titled ‘Natura morta con figure e pavone’.
