David Eason's assault and child abuse charges dismissed
A North Carolina judge has dismissed felony assault-by-strangulation and child abuse charges against David Eason. The decision came nearly three years after allegations surfaced that Eason assaulted Jenelle Evans’ son, Jace.
During the hearing, prosecutors requested a continuance to obtain further information from Jenelle Evans, Jace, and Jace’s grandmother, Barbara Evans, noting that the family members had recently stopped cooperating with the case. The judge denied the request, citing a desire to avoid further delays. Following a request from Eason’s public defender, the judge dismissed the charges, ending the proceedings in a hearing that lasted approximately 10 minutes.
David Eason has consistently maintained his innocence, previously claiming that police reports were falsified. Jenelle Evans responded to the dismissal on social media, stating she does not care about the court case and wishes to focus on her children.
