David Fincher to direct Brad Pitt in Tarantino-scripted sequel

Director David Fincher and screenwriter Quentin Tarantino have shared details regarding 'The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth,' a sequel to 'Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood.' Starring Brad Pitt, who reprises his Oscar-winning role as stuntman Cliff Booth, the film is set in 1977, eight years after the original story.

Fincher revealed in a joint interview with Empire magazine that he significantly reshaped the screenplay, cutting approximately 60 pages from an initial 230-page draft to bring the runtime to roughly two hours and 20 minutes. Fincher described the original script as being 'essentially two movies' and noted that the final version focuses more on character interactions and the crime-fiction atmosphere of 1970s Los Angeles rather than a sprawling plot.

The film features a cast including Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Peter Weller. It is scheduled for an exclusive two-week global IMAX run beginning November 25, 2026, before premiering on Netflix on December 23, 2026.
