David Gilmour: High-value guitars and Ferrari F40 history

David Gilmour, the guitarist for Pink Floyd, is noted for both his high-value musical instruments and his collection of exclusive automobiles. His black Fender Stratocaster achieved a significant auction price of $14,550,000 at Christie’s in March 2026, ranking as one of the most expensive guitars ever sold.

In the automotive realm, Gilmour was the original owner of a 1988 Ferrari F40 (chassis 78036). He famously collected the vehicle at Fiorano alongside Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, who also purchased an F40. The two musicians personally transported their cars to the United Kingdom, and both vehicles were later showcased at the 1988 Birmingham International Motor Show.
