David Goffin announces retirement from professional tennis

Belgian tennis player David Goffen has officially retired from professional tennis. His final appearance took place in Brussels, playing before a home crowd during an ATP 250 tournament, where he lost to Alex Michelsen.

Goffen’s career spanned over 18 years since earning his first ATP ranking point and 12 years since his first ATP title in Kitzbuhel. He was a mainstay among the top players on the ATP Tour for over a decade and was the first Belgian player to break into the top 10 of the international rankings.

Reflecting on his career, Goffen stated, “I am proud of my entire career. I gave my all to try to achieve my goals.” He added that he is proud of his attitude toward challenges, his successes, and the opponents he defeated, noting, “In the end, I regret nothing. I gave my all until the very end.”
