David Hogg urges moderate Democrats to adapt or face primary challenges

Former Democratic National Committee (DNC) Vice Chair David Hogg has criticized moderate Democrats, stating they "don’t have the right values" and must offer something new to voters or step aside.

Speaking in a CNN interview, Hogg argued that the Democratic establishment repeatedly loses elections because its messaging is outdated and fails to align with the American people. He suggested that moderates need to move beyond the political playbook used in 2024 to avoid being defeated by more energetic, progressive alternatives.

Through his political organization, Leaders We Deserve, Hogg has actively funded primary challenges against sitting Democratic incumbents he deems ineffective or insufficiently aggressive. The group has raised approximately $15 million to support a new generation of candidates. This movement has seen early success in recent primaries, such as Dr. Abdul El-Sayed's narrow victory in a Michigan Senate primary.

DNC Chair Ken Martin has publicly rebuked Hogg for his interference in primary elections, highlighting a growing ideological divide within the party regarding its strategic direction.
