David Leitch confirms completed script for Netflix Gears of War film

Director David Leitch has confirmed that a version of the screenplay for the Netflix Gears of War movie has been completed. The project, which began development in 2022, aims to adapt the popular video game franchise.

Leitch expressed enthusiasm regarding the potential for the film to expand into a larger cinematic universe. The adaptation is expected to focus on the origins of Delta Squad and their battle against the Locust, subterranean creatures threatening humanity. This narrative approach provides a specific starting point for the story rather than attempting to cover the entire franchise immediately.

The creative team includes screenwriter Jon Spaihts, known for his work on Dune, and producer Kelly McCormick. While a completed draft exists, a filming schedule and official release date have not yet been announced.
