David Leßnig wins professional dressage rider championship

David Leßnig has secured the title of professional dressage rider champion during his debut at the national championship in Warendorf. Competing as part of the Al Shira’aa Bundeschampionate, the 36-year-old achieved a total of 211.49 points.

The competition featured a challenging format involving horse changes. Leßnig performed strongly with his own horse, the 13-year-old Hanoverian Movie Star L, scoring 70.30 percent in the final qualification. In the final, he also demonstrated versatility by riding Flavis, a Westphalian horse from the Warendorf State Stud, earning 71.162 percent, and Franco Salentino, a Rhineland horse, earning 70.03 percent.

Pia Hesse-Wischerath took second place, while Anja Wilimzig finished in third. Leßnig, who has been working at Stall Ramsbrock in North Rhine-Westphalia since 2010, noted the difficulty of riding unfamiliar horses but expressed satisfaction with the challenge.
