David Lisnard alleges radical militant training camps in France

David Lisnard, the mayor of Cannes and president of Nouvelle Énergie, has made controversial statements regarding radical militants and historical events in France. During an appearance on RTL, Lisnard alleged that radical far-left militants, including former 'zadistes' and Black Bloc members, are using the Millevaches plateau in Limousin as “terrorist training camps” to practice urban guerrilla warfare.

Lisnard linked these activities to recent civil unrest, specifically following an arson attack on the Limoges city hall during protests against the cost of living. He also criticized Jean-Luc Mélenchon, suggesting a political proximity between the La France Insoumise leader and these radical groups due to Mélenchon's presence in the region.

In a separate televised exchange on LCI, Lisnard drew criticism for his dismissive response to a question regarding the October 17, 1961, massacre of Algerians in Paris. When asked to recall the event, the 2027 presidential candidate stated he was uninterested in the historical topic, remarking, “I don’t care... I wasn't born [then].” Lisnard, who left Les Républicains to launch his own movement, is currently positioning himself for the upcoming presidential election.
