David Martínez transfers to FC Midtjylland for record fee

Venezuelan winger David Martínez has officially transferred from Los Angeles FC (LAFC) to the Danish club FC Midtjylland. The 20-year-old attacker signed a five-season contract that runs until June 30, 2031.

The transfer fee is reported to be approximately 7.3 million euros (roughly 8.5 million USD), setting a new record for the highest transfer fee in the history of FC Midtjylland and the Danish Superliga. The deal also represents a significant profit for LAFC, which acquired Martínez from Monagas SC in 2024 for approximately 3.5 million USD.

Martínez, a Venezuelan international, had a productive stint in Major League Soccer, recording 13 goals and eight assists in 67 league matches for LAFC. In his new role, he is expected to compete in the Danish domestic league and participate in the UEFA Conference League. Martínez expressed his enthusiasm for the move, stating, “Coming to Europe is a dream that I have always desired.”
