South Africa clinches ODI series against Australia
South Africa clinched the three-match One Day International series against Australia with a 32-run victory in the second match at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. The win gives the Proteas an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
Captain Temba Bavuma scored 103 runs, while David Miller delivered a career-best 142 runs off 93 balls to help South Africa reach a total of 365 for nine. The pair shared a fourth-wicket partnership of 156 runs. In response, Australia reached 333 before being bowled out, despite strong opening contributions from Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head, who both scored 84.
South African spinners played a decisive role in the middle overs, with Keshav Maharaj, Bjorn Fortuin, and Aiden Markram claiming five wickets between them. The match was held as a ‘Pink Day’ fixture to raise breast cancer awareness, with players wearing the names of cancer survivors on their jerseys.
David Miller’s performance also marked a personal milestone, as he became the second South African batter to hit 150 sixes in ODIs, joining AB de Villiers.
