David Miller nominated to lead U.S. Space Command

President Donald Trump has nominated U.S. Space Force Lt. Gen. David Miller Jr. to serve as the commander of U.S. Space Command (SPACECOM). If confirmed by the Senate, Miller will succeed Gen. Stephen Whiting.

Miller currently serves as the deputy chief of space operations for strategy, plans, programs, and requirements at the Pentagon. His previous leadership roles include commanding Space Operations Command (now Combat Forces Command) and serving as the director of operations, training, and force development at U.S. Space Command.

Upon confirmation, Miller will oversee the command’s relocation from Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado to Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama, a transition that has been a subject of partisan debate on Capitol Hill.
