David Mirković cites Jokić and Dončić as basketball role models

Montenegrin basketball player David Mirković, a center for the University of Illinois, has identified Nikola Jokić and Luka Dončić as his primary role models. In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Mirković noted that he has been compared to Jokić since the age of 13, recalling a commentator who referred to him by Jokić’s name rather than his own during early public games.

Mirković cited similarities in physical build and regional background as reasons for his admiration of both Jokić and Dončić. As the NCAA season approaches on November 1, Mirković is expected to be a key leader for the Illinois team. He will be joined by several other players, including Andrej Stojaković and Tomislav and Zvonimir Ivišić.
