David Morens pleads guilty to conspiracy charges involving COVID-19 origins
Dr. David Morens, a senior science advisor to former NIAID director Dr. Anthony Fauci, has pleaded guilty to federal conspiracy charges involving the destruction of government records and the concealment of evidence related to the origins of COVID-19.
Morens admitted to deleting sensitive government files and using personal email accounts to conduct official business. A congressional investigation previously revealed that Morens used his position to protect controversial grant funding for Dr. Peter Daszak of EcoHealth Alliance, which supported coronavirus research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China.
The guilty plea has intensified scrutiny regarding Dr. Fauci’s potential knowledge of or involvement in efforts to conceal information about the pandemic's origins. U.S. Representative Brandon Gill has called for legal accountability for Fauci and his team, alleging they deliberately withheld information and suppressed dissenting views regarding COVID-19 lockdowns, vaccines, and the virus's origins.
