David Murcia Guzmán transferred to high-security prison in Santander

David Murcia Guzmán, the founder of the DMG financial scheme, has been transferred from La Picota prison in Bogotá to the Palogordo penitentiary in Girón, Santander. The transfer took place on Saturday, August 29, around 5:00 p.m.

Upon arrival, authorities initiated reception protocols, including medical and psychological evaluations, to determine his specific housing conditions. It is reported that Murcia may be placed in high-security sectors, specifically pavilions 7, 8, or 9, which feature enhanced controls.

Murcia Guzmán was convicted for illegal money collection and money laundering related to the DMG case, which operated between 2005 and 2008 using prepaid cards and promises of high returns. After serving a sentence in the United States following extradition, he returned to Colombia, where he is currently serving a total prison sentence of 22 years, 10 months, and 15 days.
