David Ospina pauses contract with Atlante due to injury

Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina has paused his contract with Mexican club Atlante due to a chronic elbow injury. Although initially presented as a major reinforcement for the club's return to the top flight, Ospina has not played a single match for the team.

The injury is a recurrence of a serious issue in his right elbow that dates back to 2023 during his time with Al-Nassr. Coach Miguel Herrera noted that the medical situation created uncertainty regarding the player's continuity.

Atlante announced that the decision to pause the professional relationship was made by mutual agreement, pending the results of upcoming medical evaluations. A final decision regarding his future with the club will be made in the coming weeks based on his recovery progress. In the interim, Atlante has brought in goalkeeper Jordan García from León to fill the position.
