David Platek sentenced to prison for threatening San Luis Obispo District Attorney
David Platek has been sentenced to 24 months in federal prison for making terrorist threats against San Luis Obispo County District Attorney Dan Dow, his wife, and their two children. Platek pleaded guilty to sending threats across state lines during the 2024 winter break, which included intentions to kill the Dow family and schoolchildren.
During the sentencing in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, Dan Dow described the impact of the threats, noting that his family required a law enforcement protection detail for their safety. Due to time already served, Platek is expected to be released in January 2027, followed by three years of supervised release and a prohibition on contacting the Dow family.
