David Popovici returns to training and congratulates Pan Zhanle

Romanian swimmer David Popovici is returning to training following a month-and-a-half break after the European Championships in Paris. Having competed in swimming since age four, Popovici stated that his primary focus for the upcoming year is the World Championships, while his long-term ultimate goal remains the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

Popovici also expressed support for his rival and friend, Chinese swimmer Pan Zhanle, following Pan’s narrow victory in the 100m freestyle at the Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan. Pan won the gold medal by a margin of just 0.04 seconds, finishing with a time of 47.61 seconds. Popovici noted that he sent a congratulatory message to Pan immediately after the race, highlighting the positive relationship between the two athletes, who previously trained together in Bucharest.
