David Sartin Jr. charged in Florida bank robberies
Federal authorities have charged 40-year-old David Sartin Jr. of St. Petersburg with two counts of bank robbery following heists in Largo and St. Petersburg, Florida. Investigators allege that during the robberies on August 24 and September 15, 2026, Sartin used a realistic prosthetic “old man” mask with gray facial hair to disguise his identity.
According to court documents, Sartin approached tellers demanding cash and specifically instructed them not to include dye packs. Evidence gathered by the FBI includes surveillance footage and recovered gloves. In one instance, investigators noted Sartin used a bicycle to approach the bank and later used spray paint to alter a vehicle involved in the crimes.
Sartin was already serving a sentence for five previous bank robberies in Texas when the Florida incidents occurred. If convicted of the new federal charges, he faces up to 40 years in prison.
