David Shane Dailey sentenced to 12 years for sexual assault

David Shane Dailey, 55, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison by an Olmsted County judge for two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Dailey, who previously resided in Casper, Wyoming, was found guilty following a trial in June.

The investigation, initiated by the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office in the fall of 2022, followed reports from a victim who stated she had been sexually assaulted as frequently as twice a week since she was a toddler. Court documents also noted allegations that Dailey forced the victim to watch sexually explicit videos and participate in child sexual abuse-themed chat rooms.

Records indicate that Dailey had a prior conviction for fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in Wabasha County, Minnesota, in 2008, for which he served a brief jail sentence.
