David Silva endorses Fabian Ruiz for Ballon d'Or

Former Spanish midfielder David Silva has named Fabian Ruiz as his preferred candidate for the 2026 Ballon d'Or. Silva cited Ruiz’s recent success with both Paris Saint-Germain and the Spanish national team as the primary reasons for his choice.

Ruiz has secured significant honors recently, including the Ligue 1 title and the UEFA Champions League with PSG, as well as winning the FIFA World Cup with Spain. Silva noted that while Ruiz does not receive enough recognition, his quiet and consistent work has been vital to his teams' achievements. Silva also mentioned that he would have considered Rodri for the award if he had not already won it in 2024.

In separate news, David Silva has returned to professional football at the age of 40, signing with Supreme Sha Tin in the Hong Kong Serie A.
