David Sánchez barred from public office for nine years

The Provincial Court of Badajoz has clarified that David Sánchez ‘Azagra’, brother of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, is barred from holding any public office for a period of nine years. This clarification follows a conviction for administrative malfeasance (prevaricación administrativa) issued in July.

The ruling specifies that the special disqualification prevents Sánchez from occupying any position within a public administration during the sentence period. While he had already resigned from his position at the Diputación de Badajoz, the court confirmed that the sentence nullifies his ability to secure the same role or any other public post for the duration of the nine-year term.
