David Twigg aims to play for Polish national basketball team
David Twigg, the 18-year-old son of legendary Polish basketball player Małgorzata Dydek, has expressed his ambition to play for the Polish senior national team. Having grown up in Brisbane, Australia, Twigg moved to Poland in August 2024 to pursue his basketball career in Europe, citing the superior youth training systems compared to Australia.
Standing at 214 centimeters, Twigg is currently a player for Energa Trefl Sopot, primarily appearing for their second team. His achievements include winning a Polish U-17 championship and a silver medal in the U-19 category. Because he was born in Gdańsk and holds Polish citizenship, there are no formal eligibility barriers to him representing Poland under coach Igor Milicić.
