Davido clashes with ex‑presidential aide and Edo governor over Osun election
Afrobeats star David Adeleke, known as Davido, has become a vocal defender of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, ahead of the August 15 governorship election. The singer exchanged sharp barbs on X with former presidential aide Bashir Ahmad, who warned he would return to the platform to lament if the results were unfavorable. Davido mocked Ahmad’s 2022 APC primary performance, noting Ahmad received only 16 votes.
During an APC rally, Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo criticised Adeleke’s habit of dancing before signing documents. Davido responded by posting what he claimed were Okpebholo’s WAEC results, showing low grades in several subjects. The feud intensified as Davido threatened to involve U.S. President Donald Trump if the Osun election were manipulated. Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma also predicted a defeat for Adeleke. Davido continued to appear at campaign events, dancing with the governor and urging a peaceful, credible vote.
