Davido discusses potential music hiatus and career longevity

Afrobeats superstar Davido has sparked speculation regarding his long-term future in the music industry, suggesting he may eventually step away from recording and performing for extended periods.

Speaking on the Uncut Podcast, the 33-year-old singer discussed the importance of career longevity and using music as a foundation for other business ventures. Davido cited Jay-Z as an example of an artist who successfully navigated extended breaks without losing relevance. He expressed confidence that his existing catalogue is strong enough to support massive arena tours even after a decade-long hiatus.

“Music is my blood, but I won’t be 40 years and still dragging with guys in their 20s,” Davido stated. He further noted that he might even decide to stop making new music entirely, asserting that his legacy would remain intact due to his body of work. He emphasized that music should provide artists with the influence to branch out into other professional areas.
