Davis school board meeting erupts in chaos as teachers walk out
A school board meeting for the Davis Joint Unified School District in California descended into chaos on Thursday night when local teachers staged a walkout. The disruption occurred as Beth Bourne, a school board candidate and president of the local Moms for Liberty chapter, began her public comments.
During the exchange, Bourne directed verbal insults at the departing teachers, calling them “a bunch of cowards” and “weak, stupid, brainwashed liberals.” Bourne, who was wearing a trans flag tank top, used her time to voice opposition to LGBTQ+ content in school books and policies, specifically targeting issues regarding pronouns and transgender inclusion in schools.
Despite the meeting chair’s attempt to end public comments to restore order, Bourne continued to speak at the microphone. This incident follows previous controversies involving Bourne at district meetings, including a prior protest regarding trans-inclusive changing room policies.
