Dawid Kownacki terminates contract with Werder Bremen

Werder Bremen has officially announced the termination of striker Dawid Kownacki’s contract by mutual agreement. The 29-year-old Polish international, who joined the club in July 2023, had struggled to secure a permanent place in the squad following a loan spell at Hertha Berlin.

Werder Bremen’s sporting director, Clemens Fritz, stated that after discussions regarding Kownacki’s sporting situation and prospects at the club, both parties concluded that dissolving the contract was the best solution. Fritz praised Kownacki’s professionalism, noting that he always put the team first, and wished him success in his future endeavors.

Kownacki, a former Lech Poznań player and seven-time Polish national team representative, is now a free agent. While his future remains unconfirmed, there has been speculation regarding a potential return to the Polish Ekstraklasa.
