Dawit Seare wins men's 5km gold at World Road Running Championships

Eritrean runner Dawit Seare won the gold medal in the men's 5km at the World Road Running Championships in Copenhagen, finishing with a time of 12:56. Seare, a 21-year-old who recently competed in the African Championships, overtook Norway's Jakob Ingebrigtsen in the final stages of the race.

Ingebrigtsen, the Olympic 5,000m champion, secured the silver medal with a time of 12:59, which stands as a Norwegian record. Despite a strong comeback in the final kilometer to take the lead, Ingebrigtsen was unable to hold off Seare's late surge in the closing meters.

Eritrea's Saymon Amanuel took the bronze medal. In the women's 5km event, Ethiopia's Likina Amebaw claimed gold with a decisive time of 14:41, followed by Kenya's Caroline Gitonga in second and Australia's Rose Davies in third. In the men's mile, Germany's Robert Farken secured a surprise victory with a time of 3:51, while France's Agathe Guillemot won the women's mile in 4:22.
