Dawn Marie alleges WWE fired her due to pregnancy

Former ECW and WWE superstar Dawn Marie has shared details regarding the end of her professional wrestling career on the digital series ‘The Wednesday Hang’. Speaking with David Otunga, she alleged that WWE terminated her contract because she became pregnant, stating, “I was released for being pregnant and having, you know, what I’m born to do as a woman… I was punished for it.”

Dawn Marie noted that she was the first woman to get pregnant while under such a contract in the industry. While she expressed gratitude for the stability her life gained after leaving the industry, she described the exit as a traumatic event.

Following a recent appearance as a special guest referee for an NXT event in Philadelphia, Dawn Marie stated she has set strict boundaries against future promotional requests from the company. She noted that being asked to film a promotional video brought back significant emotional distress, leading her to request that her name not be put forward for future appearances.
