DAX climbs near record as Apple posts strong earnings
Germany's DAX index rose steadily through the week, moving from 25,459 points at the start to around 25,782 points by Friday, closing just nine points shy of its all‑time high. The rise was supported by an improved ZEW economic sentiment indicator and mixed inflation data that showed rising price pressure in several German states.
In the United States, the Federal Reserve left its policy rate unchanged, while technology stocks faced pressure amid chip shortages. Apple reported a 16 % year‑over‑year revenue increase to $109.4 billion and earnings of $2.02 per share, but warned that growth in the current quarter would be limited to 9‑11 % because of supply constraints for advanced chips and memory components.
