DAX falls amid AI sector sell-off and ACS takeover rumors

The German DAX index fell by 1.92 percent on Friday, dropping to 25,820.36 points after hitting a record high the previous day. The decline was driven by a global sell-off in the artificial intelligence and semiconductor sectors, following significant losses in the US NASDAQ 100 and the SOX semiconductor index.

Market analysts suggest that investor anxiety stems from potential increased AI regulation in the United States following the Democratic Party's success in the midterm elections. There are concerns that stricter regulatory frameworks could act as a growth brake for the technology sector.

Separately, Spanish construction group ACS is reportedly considering a full takeover or merger with its German subsidiary, Hochtief. Sources indicate that such a deal could involve a potential New York listing for Turner Construction, a US-based company owned by Hochtief. Hochtief shares rose 5.5 percent following the reports.
