US markets rise as inflation meets expectations and AI stocks rally

US stock markets saw mixed but generally positive results following July inflation data that met market expectations. The Consumer Price Index rose 0.1% monthly and 3.4% annually, while core inflation stood at 2.5% year-over-year. These figures have bolstered expectations that the Federal Reserve may keep interest rates unchanged in September, with markets pricing a 62% probability of a hold.

In the technology sector, artificial intelligence infrastructure companies drove significant gains. CoreWeave shares surged 19% following strong second-quarter results and an increased capital spending outlook. Nebius Group rose 34%, and Super Micro Computer climbed 19% on robust revenue forecasts. These movements helped the Nasdaq and S&P 500 close higher, despite a slight decline in the Dow Jones.

In Europe, the DAX index continued its rally, recently surpassing the 26,000 mark and maintaining a year-to-date gain of over 8%. While some indices faced volatility due to geopolitical tensions and energy price fluctuations, the overall sentiment was supported by strong corporate earnings and the ongoing enthusiasm for AI-related technologies.
