Dax Shepard discusses childhood experiences on Armchair Expert

Actor Dax Shepard shared reflections on his upbringing by a single mother during an episode of his ‘Armchair Expert’ podcast. Shepard discussed the discomfort he felt as a child regarding the attention his mother received from other men in public settings.

During the conversation with guest Taron Egerton, Shepard noted that children of single parents may experience a ‘blurry line’ between the roles of parent and partner, sometimes feeling a subconscious responsibility to protect their mothers. Egerton shared similar sentiments, describing feelings of rage and inadequacy stemming from having an attractive parent during his youth.

Shepard also touched upon his relationship with his late father, who passed away in 2012, noting that he has realized he shares more emotional traits with him than he previously admitted.
