DAX slides modestly amid Middle East tension, low trading volume persists

The German DAX opened on Monday near 25,050 points, about 0.1% below Friday’s close, as the escalation of the Middle East conflict raised oil prices and revived inflation concerns. “Alle Hoffnungen auf ein schnelles Ende der neuen Eskalation im Mittleren Osten haben sich über das Wochenende zerschlagen,” said analyst Thomas Altmann. Investors pulled back from risk assets, resulting in reduced trading volume.

Mid‑day trading remained subdued with little price movement, and a brief flash‑crash occurred just before the market close. The index finished the week down 0.2% at 25,067 points. Throughout, market participants cited the Middle East crisis as a key factor for holding back on equity positions.
