Daylight saving time changes and proposals for adaptation days
The upcoming autumn clock change on October 25 will occur earlier than usual, providing an extra hour of sleep. This timing coincides with the autumn break for students, as the last day of classes is October 22 and the break ends on November 2, allowing students to adjust without immediate pressure.
In a separate development regarding the challenges of seasonal time changes, a petition in Poland has proposed the introduction of an ‘Adaptation Day’. The initiative suggests adjusting the opening hours of schools, offices, and workplaces on the Monday following a clock change to mitigate health and logistical issues such as sleep deprivation, fatigue, and concentration problems. Under this proposal, institutions would start an hour later in the spring and an hour earlier in the autumn to better utilize daylight and facilitate smoother transitions.
