Daylight Saving Time transition approaching in Minnesota

Daylight Saving Time is scheduled to end on November 1st at 2 a.m., at which point most of the United States will move clocks back by one hour.

While the practice was originally introduced in the U.S. during World War I to conserve coal and later reinstated during World War II as ‘War Time,’ modern efforts exist to change how time is observed. In Minnesota, there have been discussions regarding making Daylight Saving Time permanent. State Representative Mike Freiberg previously indicated that local leaders are prepared to ‘lock the clock’ to stay on Daylight Saving Time year-round, should Congress grant the necessary authorization.
