Winter time transition scheduled for October 25, 2026

The transition to winter time is scheduled for the night between Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, 2026. During this change, clocks will be set back one hour at 3:00 AM to 2:00 AM, effectively providing an extra hour of sleep.

While most modern digital devices like smartphones and computers adjust automatically, users are advised to manually check analog clocks, bedside alarms, and certain household appliances like heating systems to avoid scheduling errors.

Health experts, including the National Institute of Sleep and Vigilance, note that this shift can cause 'social jetlag.' Although an hour is gained, the change in natural light exposure—with darkness arriving much earlier in the afternoon—can disrupt circadian rhythms, leading to temporary fatigue, irritability, and fragmented sleep as the body resynchronizes.
