DAZN faces class action lawsuit over subscription price increases

The Higher Regional Court of Hamm has commenced proceedings regarding a class action lawsuit filed by the Federation of German Consumer Organisations (vzbv) against the streaming provider DAZN. The lawsuit challenges the legality of significant price increases implemented by the service.

Between August 2021 and mid-2022, DAZN increased its monthly subscription rates from 11.99 euros to 14.99 euros, and subsequently to 29.99 euros. The vzbv alleges that these increases were applied unilaterally via price adjustment clauses in the terms and conditions without explicit customer consent. The legal action seeks to determine if these adjustments were lawful and to secure refunds for affected users.

As of early September 2026, over 5,700 consumers have joined the collective action. Following the court hearing, affected customers who experienced these price hikes in 2021 or 2022 without providing explicit consent have a three-week window to join the lawsuit without incurring litigation costs.
