DB Cargo UK seeks new owner as parent company refocuses on Central Europe

DB Cargo UK has initiated a search for a new owner as its parent company, DB Cargo AG, shifts its strategic focus toward core operations in Central Europe. The parent company is currently undergoing restructuring following a State Aid ruling by the European Commission.

DB Cargo UK is seeking a partner capable of providing additional capital, broader market opportunities, and the scale necessary to support future development. CEO Andrea Rossi stated that a sale is the best path to ensuring the long-term growth, competitiveness, and sustainability of the business.

While a recent transformation programme improved operational performance and financial efficiency, the company noted that external pressures have increased costs and negatively impacted volumes and revenue. Despite these challenges, the company maintains that it possesses a significant market share, a diverse customer base, and a substantial asset and property portfolio. Operations will continue as normal during the sale process.
