DB ESG appointed to Network Rail ETCS survey framework

DB ESG has been appointed to Network Rail’s framework to provide independent European Train Control System (ETCS) vehicle survey reports. This appointment supports Network Rail’s ongoing rollout of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) across the UK rail network.

To facilitate the supply and installation of ETCS equipment, rolling stock must undergo detailed surveys to inform design and installation processes. DB ESG was selected based on its experience in delivering ETCS retrofit surveys and complex rolling stock programmes for both passenger and freight fleets. The company has previously completed surveys for more than 340 locomotives.

DB ESG utilizes a methodology that combines 3D scanning technology with manual inspections by systems engineers to create comprehensive reality capture models of vehicles. Their expertise covers the full project lifecycle, including survey design, depot coordination, and the production of ETCS fitment design packages.
